Hello there. Congrats on your new windows mobile.
I got mine just yesterday and im very happy about it too.

Although i have some questions hoping u can answer them.
Is there a way to copy all my contacts from the SIM to my smartphone's internal memory and use ONLY my internal memory?
If i enter some entries in my internal memory then they appear double since the phone reads the contacts from both SIM and RAM . I want to make it read only the internat memory contacts.
How do i do that?

And last but not least...
There's a sort of application history on top of screen but is it just a history list or a taskbar?

Yesterday i used a lot of applications and folders and most of them appeared in that "history" list but after a while phone couldnt open any menus! So i assume that the applications had been still running in the background taking all the available memory up. I turned off and then back on the mobile and everything was ok.
So, how do u close an application since in their menus there is no Exit option.

Glad to see that other users of SPV C500 are happy about this phone.
I'm not sure that my answers will help you but, with my handset came a tool, I don't know which is the name in english, but SIM Manager I guess (my phone language is set to Romanian, and as you maybe discovered changing the language requires a reboot). The tool is located in the Accesories menu. Also there is a setting in Settings -> Phone -> Call Options that allows the phone to ignore the SIM contacts (they won't be displayed) and this removes the duplication. I haven't tried if SIM Manager supports both way syncronization, so if I update the contact in the memory it can update it also on SIM, but still, a nice tool.

I am assuming that you are using the Windows default home screen since you see icons on top of screen. That is the MRU plugin (Most Recently Used) and by no means it is a task manager. It is simply a list that shows the most 10 I think recently used programs. My phone has also bundled a task manager that enables you to see what's in the memory and give the ability to quit programs. In Windows CE/Smartphones the applications continue to run in background until there is need for memory and the OS will automatically unload the applications.

The problem with menus that cannot be opened I encountered myself, and it related not to lack of memory but of resources. I can reproduce quite easily if I start SmartExplorer (a nice filemanager), and I expand \Windows folder which has over 1000 files. When SmartExplorer will add 1000 files in the treeview and load icons for it, I guess the OS will allocate the USER/GDI resources and the others won't get the required resources. This behaviour can be encoundered and in Windows XP/2000 with bad behaving applications, and only reboot can restore the situation.

i do that?out any “strings” attached, and went to their store. At the store, one employee told me that they cannot sell me the phone without “strings” because they don't sell phones actually. “Wow, but your site says other things”. We are sorry but we can't sell you the phone unless you buy a new subscription or sign for another year your current subscription. I knew someone that actually bought the phone without any kind of problem, so I called Customer Care. Surprise... we cannot sell the phone. After a few minutes with their Customer Care, I hanged up and tried to find some dealer that would sell me the damn phone. In another few minutes Customer Care called me back and told me that now they can sell me the phone, but only if I buy a prepay card, and the price is not 289 USD + VAT but 296 USD + VAT. Well, 7 USD difference + 6 USD for the prepay card, now we're talking. SELL ME THE DAMN PHONE. 1 Hour later I had the phone in my hand. I waited a SPV for 2 years I think, but Orange RO decided to postpone the E100 handset, than the E200 handset and now the finally awaited C500 was launched. Well, I'm very happy...

I have a phone with Windows Mobile 2003 SE, and now I am ready to develop for this phone. I want to build application to fit me, and this first in the list is a RSS reader.

I've already found a bug. I've installed SmartExplorer and SP Task Manager, and I'm not sure if this is the cause but if I expand the WINDOWS folder in SmartExplorer soon I have a resource leakage. Icons won't be painted correctly, and menu isn't always displayed, or checkboxes aren't shown, so you don't know if the option is checked or no. I'll try to reproduce again this incovenient.
